The annual Confirmands Camp in Gauteng took place during the weekend of 11 - 13 October 2019.
About 400 confirmands, from both the Gauteng East and West Apostle areas, gathered at the Castle Inn resort just outside Cullinan, which is located north of Pretoria.
The camp was organized by the Young People leaders and they prepared an interesting programme that included spiritual discussions and team-building activities. To ensure that the confirmands interact and make new friends, they were divided into four groups, which were aptly identified by the blue, green, red and yellow T-shirts.
Fun water activities like the slip-and-slide, provided an opportunity to cool down under the very hot highveld weather. Each group developed a vibrant war cry and on Saturday afternoon, they gathered in the courtyard and displayed their vocal skills to the delight of all present. Both Apostles Jerry Joubert and Sipho Mogane were in attendance on Saturday and made themselves available to interact with the youngsters.
Despite the hectic programme, the leaders also allowed for some time for the confirmands to interact with one another. In the afternoon, everyone gathered for a moment of contemplation, to especially remember the many who from their ranks as confirmands and young people, have passed away since the last camp. Early evening, they gathered for a spiritual session before they retired to prepare for the Sunday morning divine service.
Apostle Mogane conducted the divine service. He encouraged the confirmands to be weary of the spirit of doubt, but to allow themselves, like Thomas, to experience the Lord in their life of faith.
After the divine service, everyone gathered for a group photo, followed by the prize-giving for amongst others, the best war cry and the best overall team spirit. With great excitement each group received a prize and the joyful spirit amongst all, was evidence of a truly great and spiritually enriching weekend for the confirmands.
