On Saturday 9 February 2019, a Divine Service was held at the Pietermaritzburg Central
church building for the decommissioning of the building as a venue for conducting divine services.
The decision to decommission Pietermaritzburg Central building stems from the consolidation of the congregation with Scottsville Congregation, due to the structural safety of the building.
A structural engineer has assessed the structural integrity of the building and found that it was not safe. The New Apostolic Building Department conducted a feasibility assessment to either repair/upgrade the building, or consolidate the congregation with Scottsville. It was concluded that it would be more feasible to consolidate the two congregations and subsequently sell the building as is.
