On Friday 1 April, confirmands within the area of Apostle Swartbooi headed for Oudtshoorn.
Their first destination was Wilgewandel Holiday Farm where they participated in exciting activities. Thereafter, they visited the famous Cango Caves and had dinner at the De Hoek resort. After a long, fun-filled day the confirmands headed to their respective accommodations.
On Saturday, all the confirmands gathered at Bridgton Secondary School. Here they participated in sporting activities such as cricket, rugby and soccer. After the fun and games, a short choir practice was held. Following this, they then visited the Coronation Memorial Retirement Home and the Children’s ward of Oudtshoorn Hospital as part of their “Do Good” project. Each resident in the Retirement Home received a gift bag filled with toiletries.
On Sunday, all confirmands, their teachers and ministers gathered at Bridgton Secondary School hall where a divine service was held by the District Apostle. The Bible text Malachi 3:16 served as a basis for this special divine service. A special letter from the Chief Apostle was shared with the congregation. In the letter, the Chief Apostle questioned: “What happens on your confirmation day?” He went on to explain that the confirmands will be making a vow to God and that it is a very important decision.
After a most blessed weekend, the confirmands are set for their final preparations before the make the eternal promise to God.
