On Sunday 29 November 2015 District Apostle Barnes visited Belthorn Congregation.

In this service he would retire the Deacon Edmund Bourne. The text word for this special divine service was taken from Acts 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

The congregation was reminded that by praying together and expressing thankfulness we become united in our faith.

Before the retirement ceremony, a special musical item was prepared for the occasion by the “composers group”. The group was headed by Bishop Lambert and Deacon Bourne. They were responsible for composing a number of hymns and a large part of the music we have become accustomed to in our church.

The District Apostle described him as having a passion for the work of the Lord and always showing the greatest respect for the servants of God.

At the conclusion of the service the congregation was in an amplified emotional state as they witnessed the illustrious Deacon Bourne take the choir for the last time.
