On Sunday, 12 April 2015 the congregation of Dunrobin was abuzz with excitement in anticipation of the celebration of Confirmation and the visit of District Apostle Barnes.

It was a day of great joy shared by the congregation. Members as well as friends and guests of the nineteen confirmands who would receive the confirmation blessing from the district apostle filled the church to capacity. While the priestly ministers welcomed all, the choir and orchestra performed appropriate hymns of praise with a message to heed the call of God. Upon the arrival of the district apostle he shared a few words with the ministers before meeting with all nineteen confirmands. These were special moments now etched into the hearts of the confirmands.

The sermon of the festive divine service was based on the words: “The Teacher has come and is calling for you.” This can be found in John 11, as a portion of verse 28. Those present, and in particular the confirmands, were encouraged to heed the call of the Saviour Jesus Christ and secure their future by following Him. Upon conclusion of the sermon the confirmands, eight girls and eleven boys, were called to the altar. They received special greetings of love in the letter from the chief apostle and then recited their confirmation vow.

The congregation together with the new youth could then join in celebration of Holy Communion and thereafter there was a special opportunity of focusing on the celebration of the grace and love of God towards the souls in the beyond. The Apostle M Diedricks and the rector of Dunrobin, Shepherd L Thomas, served as proxy.

To conclude the divine service the choir rendered a brilliant performance of “O sing praises.” This was a fitting conclusion to a day of blessings and wonderful experiences in the work of God.
