Sunday, 13 November 2016, will be etched in the hearts of the members of Lavistown Congregation for some time.

On this day, District Apostle N Barnes served the congregation for a final time before his pending retirement in December.

As basis for the divine service, the Bible word from 2 Corinthians 6:2 was read: “For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation’.”
The opening hymn, anthems by the choir, the children and the orchestra tied in perfectly with the word, which focused on the imminent return of Jesus.
Apostle Thompson and Bishop James were called to serve along. The District Apostle also placed Shepherds Sedwick and Jansen into retirement. These men collectively served in the ministry for nearly 80 years.
Thereafter, the District Apostle appointed the Community Evangelist Arends as Rector of Lavistown and the Priest Barnes as the Rector of Montana.
The divine service was beautifully concluded with a rendition of ‘Again He’ll come’, performed by the choir and orchestra. After the service, the District Apostle spent a few moments with the ministers, the retired Rectors and their families.
