The country of Mozambique is experiencing heavy flooding and damages following the tropical cyclone, Idai, during their rainy season.

Many of our members have been affected by this disaster- both naturally and spiritually. The flooding has resulted in some lives being lost, but none of our members has been severely injured by the effects of the severe weather conditions.

Apostle Dzimba, one of the Apostles who cares for the area of Mozambique, gave a brief overview of the negative impacts of the tropical cyclone, particularly in the low-lying city of Beira. The church buildings in Mafarinha, Matadouro and Macuti, as well as in the districts Marromeu and Morrumbala, have been destroyed by the effects of the floods.

Since the 14th of March 2019, the area hasn’t had access to clean water, electricity, the internet, medicine and food. The road network and many housing structures have also collapsed. Communication within the area remains a great challenge.

Masakhe, the charity arm of the New Apostolic Church Southern Africa, has already indicated their intention to assist those who have been affected by the cyclone.
