On 15 & 16 June 2015 Heidelberg West members, including the youth of the congregation, made pots of soup for their social outreach project.
The soup and bread distributed to the patients at the Heidelberg Clinic and to the community of the new housing scheme in the rural area of Heidelberg, satisfied many stomachs. The expression on the faces of these people was something to behold. The people were overwhelmed by this act of kindness. They could hardly believe that there are still people who would do something for others without expecting anything in return.
It was a wonderful opportunity to show our love for our neighbour. This reaffirmed that it is indeed better to give than to receive. Sharing a bowl of soup and a piece of bread felt as if we were healing a community. The members and youth were grateful to have been able to make a difference in the lives of others.
