Music is promoted extensively and forms an integral part of divine worship and praise.

Our church hymnals are translated into various languages to facilitate the congregational singing. We also have various choirs, ranging from the congregational choir to the area or regional choirs, that meet regularly for practice and rendering of musical programmes. The playing of instruments and formation of orchestras is encouraged from the earliest ages. Regular musical recordings are made available to our members to be enjoyed in their homes and personal environments.

Participation in the musical activities is voluntary and members qualify through an equitable process of selection that strives to preserve a basic acceptable standard in each congregation. Certain highly-skilled musicians are personally mentored and assisted to lead these programmes.

The New Apostolic Church Cape accepts that it has a social responsibility towards the communities in which it serves. Within its means and wherever possible the Church is committed to assist those in need and especially those who are in need of humanitarian aid in times of disaster.

In principle, the Church enters into collaboration with reputable organizations already serving the communities. Funding for assistance is also mostly generated through congregational activities such as benefit concerts and fun walks. In this respect monetary donations and donations in kind have already been given to institutions such as the Red Cross Children’s Memorial Hospital and Child Welfare SA.

In general, initiatives can be centrally organized and run by the Church, or congregations can identify and undertake their own projects. The collection of toys for underprivileged children, activities organized for the physically challenged and soup kitchens to feed the hungry can be mentioned here.

In October 1832, apostles were chosen again by God through prophecy. As in the first apostolic age they were to proclaim the doctrine of Jesus until his return, and to reconcile all nations with God. The apostles sent memoranda to secular and ecclesiastical authorities, explaining their calling and their task. In about 1860 more apostles were called, also outside of England. The continuance and spread of the apostolic doctrine in all continents was ensured. Ever since the New Apostolic Church has existed as an institution, its official name dating back to 1911.

In the New Apostolic Church there are festive occassions which are annually celebrated that have great significance to the congregations. Too such occassions are Confirmation and Thanksgiving.

Confirmation

Apart from the sacraments, God's covenantal acts, there are acts of blessings for special occasions. The blessing bestowed at confirmation is bound to the following requirements:

one must be sealed
one must have attented the services and confirmation classes
one must have profound knowledge of the basics of God's plan of salvation and the doctrine of the New Apostolic Church and,
one must be resolved to obey the will of God.
Admittance, as far as the age is concerned, depends on local religious self-accountability.
